Who we are
This website, www.thegate.pub, is run by The Gate Pub and Dining, which is the trading name of The Gate Pub Bryants Bottom Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13550953). Our registered office is The Gate, Bryants Bottom Road, Bryants Bottom, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire HP16 0JS. We are responsible for any personal information you give us through this website.

What information we collect and why
Table bookings
When you book a table on our website we collect your name, email address, phone number, the date and time of your booking, the number of guests and any message you add (for example dietary requirements or a special occasion). We use this only to manage your booking and to contact you about it. Our legal basis is that we need it to take and fulfil your booking.
Deposits
For groups of more than six we ask for a deposit. We take deposits in person or by sending you a secure payment link by text message or email. Payments made by link are handled by our card payment provider; we do not see or store your full card details.
Enquiries and contact forms
If you contact us through a form on the website (for example about the function room or a large group), we collect the details you enter so we can reply to you.
Website statistics
We use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand how many people visit the website and which pages they look at. This uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, roughly where you are (town or region), and the type of device and browser you use. It does not tell us who you are.
Spam protection
Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and how you use the page, which is sent to Google.
Content from other websites
Some pages show content from other services: a Google Map on our contact page, videos from YouTube, and photos from our Instagram account. These services may set their own cookies and collect information about you, in the same way as if you visited their websites directly. Links to other websites (such as TripAdvisor, Facebook and Instagram) are covered by those websites’ own privacy policies.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own marketing. We only share it with the services that help us run the website, such as our website host, our email provider (used to send booking confirmations), our card payment provider (for deposits) and Google (for statistics, maps and spam protection). Some of these services may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
How long we keep your information
We keep booking and enquiry details for 12 months after your visit or enquiry, and then delete them. Records of payments, such as deposits, are kept for six years because the law requires us to keep financial records for that long.
Marketing
We do not send marketing emails. We will only contact you about your booking or enquiry.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it. To do any of these, email info@thegate.pub. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
